What a read....  To think that this one Image could cause so much, spirited debate between all of you :).  Listen, I have read all the articles, seen the videos, done the research, seen when this first came up years ago and the government was flapping its gums about it.  Could this law pass??  Maybe... Will it pass??  Doubtful..  Even if it did pass would we as a community still find a way to get out material??  You bet cha...  I mean if the government starts here, then they go even further..  You knock out fan films,Fan images, CONS, Cos play.  The government is so vain that they would do it.. But they wont.  So many things have been built off fan-made material, I mean by sharing and remaking different images we give the originators of the concept more publicity.. We are not claiming any of this as our own, nor are we trying to.  We are here to help each other, and support the things that we love.  So As for me, I dont care...  Nor do I wanna care...  Im gonna keep doing what I do, no matter whats passed or not passed...  Because I refuse to keep my ideas and visions locked up because the government says I cannot do it.....

Popping on before class and notice this. I agree with you on every point you make. I just most certainly think people need to be informed regardless. However even the threat of jail will not stop me from making my fan art! <3

Ars Technica hasn't covered this - they cover IP and technology law extensively. The Electronic Freedom Foundation hasn't covered this - it's their bread and butter. Wikimedia hasn't said a word - they were the highest profile site to protest SOPA. Your only source is some random guy's YouTube page.

Hate to tell you it's a hoax, but it's a hoax.

Not just him I linked to a group that has other links on it with more info then myself. But hoax or not I would rather be safe then sorry in the future. There is no harm signing the petition to get a response from our government not to mention remind them that this is not and will never be what the people want.

Getting worked up over a hoax makes you look like a fool and destroys your credibility.

I am not asking people to believe me or not; that is there own choice. Yes I may seem worked up. But to me if such a thing were to pass it would be devastating to many people including the industries that seem to want it to pass. If it did and that's only if, it would backlash against them. Besides that I didn't make the petition that was there, I am however informing others of it. Call me a fool if you wish to for I do not mind. I rather be considered a fool today then foolish enough to do nothing and find out it is real. Those that don't act, don't gain. People can choose for themselves if it is credible or not, I gave the links to the group that posted about it. But there is nothing wrong with being prepared for something. Especially when many other countries have passed laws to limit access to the internet or control it. Call it what you will, but thank you for posting.
